show
London’s Nehru centre
This is R.K. Sharma’s
fourth exhibition. Edward Marsden, the new head
of the British Council of India and Giresh Khana,
former minister of cultural affairs in Delhi and
now President of the Nehru Centre, Introduce
the Exibition. The 32 miniatures in the exhibition ,
each of which takes two weeks to paint, show
events from Indian history and hindu traditions
such as prince Shah Jehan being weighted in gold
by jehangir, shah Jehan receiving Aurangzeb and
Bahader Shah 11, the last mughal Emperor with
his sons. To achieve the look of his Paintings, Sharma
uses pigments hand ground from malachite, lapis
lazuli, red ochre and burent counch sheel. His
paper is made from cotton , jute and bamboo and
his brushes are made of squirrel hair.
