R.K. Sharma, as is commonly known, is a national and
also international award winner artist born in the
art land “Kishangarh” of district Ajmer(Rajasthan)
on 30th September, 1952. His foray into painting
started at young age of 13-14 years. The scenic
beauty of Kishangarh also added to his inspiration.He
has created enorms collection of paintings of
different styles and of different moods from himself
and with his team. He has also expertise in creating
portraits from actual photograph and live. His
portrait collection includes Birla family,
Singhania’s, binani’s and steel king L.N.Mittal.
Indian miniature painting belongs to the
Classical Art of India. R.K. Sharma’s traditional
miniature paintings in contemporary format deserve
special attention. The rich Heritage, natural
surroundings and art of Kishangarh have fascinated
him to paint to a very early age. This self-taught
artist is strongly influenced by the beauty of
Bani-Thani paintings of Kishangarh. Initially he
reproduce the master paintings of various schools
of miniature paintings and gradually developed his
own school, which has made him popular in to-day’s
art world.
He has experimented with various medium
and surfaces sometimes on paper, sometimes on silver
or on marble. He has also studded precious stones in
his works.
Being a traditional artist he has always tried to
follow the traditional techniques and methods:
specially his use of vegetable dyes and stone
colours have an extra luster to his work. The best part of Sharma’s life which needs
to be mentioned is that, he is a science student and
passed M.Sc. in 1973. He was holding a good job :
but his urge and passion for art has compelled him
to leave the job and full time painter. |
